Native Histories: California State University, Long Beach

James Chow goes over the extensive history of American Indians at California State University Long Beach. From creating the first ever ethnic studies program west of the Mississippi to battling control over the 22-acre Puvungna land, the Natives have had a love-hate relationship with the university; all of which is covered in this 10-minute podcast. Ronald Loewe’s “Of Sacred Lands and Strip Malls” helped provide the context for this story.
