Crime blotter: Hit and run offender and victim “hash it out”

Hit and run offender tracked down:

A truck travelling on West Campus Drive smashed the mirror of a parked car around 7:30 a.m. on April 22. The owner of the parked car contacted the University Police Department. After UPD officers reviewed the evidence and searched the area, they found the suspected driver. The driver and the car owner were brought together to “hash it out,” according to the police report.

Bike stolen from Hillside dining hall:

A student working at the Hillside Dining Hall reported the theft of their bike on the afternoon of April 22. The student left their bike outside the dining hall at 10 a.m., and by 3 p.m., when they returned from work, the bike, valued at $600, was gone. There are currently no suspects or leads.

Transient man confronted outside the Walter Pyramid:

A male reportedly dug through the trash cans outside the Walter Pyramid on the morning of April 18. When UPD officers arrived, the man was taking recyclables out of the garbage. Officers cited the man and issued him a lawful order not to return to campus within seven days.

Unseen ECS altercation:

A student reported four people screaming and yelling between the Engineering/Computer Science and Engineering 2 buildings on the afternoon of April 19. There was no reported physical altercation, and when officers arrived at the scene, the reported four were gone.
