Junior English major Kristine McGowan was chosen Friday to be the next editor in chief of the Daily 49er.
McGowan is currently the managing editor of the Daily 49er and was an assistant news editor in 2011-12. She has spent two summers interning at the Daily Press in Victorville, Calif.
McGowan will take on the position in her senior year after her predecessor, Editor in Chief Kasia Hall, steps down in May.
