Students and professors scrambled to access their classes and syllabi for the first few hours of fall semester as Beachboard experienced interruptions Monday. The site had inconsistent availability through campus networks by early evening.
Since 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Beachboard services are back up. According to the the office of Min Yao, Long Beach State’s Chief Information Officer, the interruptions were caused by a malfunctioning automatic intrusion detection system of the campus firewall.
“CSULB teams are actively working with the vendor, [Desire2Learn], to identify the problem and find a resolution,” Shawna Dark, associate vice president of Academic Technology, said in an email Monday.
Before the issue was resolved, Dark said users were able to access the website via an internet connection not hosted by the school.
Students quickly turned to Twitter to voice their concerns online.
