Long Beach State ended the first day of the Wave Invitational in fourth place on Tuesday.
The No. 47 49ers shot an 18-over-par 306 at the Moorpark Country Club to open the tournament hosted by Pepperdine, which leads the six-team field. The Waves are a whopping 11 strokes ahead of second-place Brigham Young and UNLV.
Senior Kay Hoey paced the ‘Niners with a 1-over 73 performance to end the round in a three-way tie for ninth. BYU’s Natalia Jimenez leads the 43-player field and is seven shots ahead of Hoey.
LBSU junior Brenda Chhuor and freshman Lee Lopez are tied for 15th after both carded 4-over 76 scores.
Sophomore Lindsay McAtee (t-29th) shot 9-over 81 while fellow sophomore Reina Rogers (t-33rd) ended the day 10-over 82.
The final round concludes this morning and is scheduled to being play at 8 a.m.
