Undefeated Gaels too much for LBSU

The Long Beach State women’s soccer team couldn’t continue its road success in Northern California on Friday.

The Beach (4-2-1) was held scoreless for the second straight game and fell 1-0 to undefeated Saint Mary’s. The loss put an end to LBSU’s five-game unbeaten streak.

Midfielder Daelyn Paul smashed one of her four shots from 35 yards out for the lone goal at the 19:45 mark to give the Gaels (6-0-0) all they would need for the win.

Shawna Gordon and Karina Camacho each had two shots on goal for the ‘Niners, while goalkeeper Emily Kingsborough came up with five saves.

Both teams finished with 14 shots and six shots on goal. The Beach tallied six corner kicks overall with five of those coming in the second half.

LBSU is set to take on No.19 California at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Goldman Field.
