Sophomore golfer advances to U.S. Open Sectionals

Long Beach State sophomore Kevin Lim fired a 2-under par 69 at the Wilshire Country Club in the U.S. Open local qualifying round Wednesday to advance to the sectionals on June 6 at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, Calif.

Sectionals will be played over 36 holes with the top finishers advancing to the 111th U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

Three other 49ers participated in the U.S. Open local qualifying round as junior Kevin Roy carded a 76 and sophomore Benjamin Lein posted a 71 at Industry Hills Golf Club. Sophomore Philip Chian recorded a 76 at Newport Beach Country Club.
