CSULB men’s golf is in second place after day one of the Husky Invitational

The Long Beach State men’s golf team ended the first day of the Husky Invitational in second place, Monday. The Beach finished shooting 14 under par and front-runner Washington ended the day at 22 under par after the first two rounds of the tournament. 

The Husky Invitational is a two-day event held at the Golf Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington.

Schools competing in the Husky Invitational are: Washington State, Seattle University, Gonzaga, Oregon, Santa Clara, Oregon State, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, San Diego State, Boise State, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii.

CSULB freshman Owen Avrit, came out strong for the Beach, shooting 67 in round one and 71 in round two for the day. He finished with the second most pars, at 26, in the tournament for day one.

All-Big West first-team selection Hunter Epson, wasn’t far behind his teammate, shooting 66 in round one and 73 in the second round.

Long Beach State continues play at the Husky Invitational, Sept. 16 at 7:15 a.m.
