Miranda K. Aguilar-Lorenzana is one of many students who has been impacted by the City of Long Beach’s ongoing housing crisis.
In an effort to accommodate lower-income residents, the city is in the process of enforcing a policy that requires buildings to designate a certain percentage of units for affordable housing.
After spending years working on a development to provide students housing in the city, Long Beach State officials have been left empty-handed.
Two developments slated to house students, faculty and staff at an affordable rate have been abandoned due to a lack of funding and a change of hands in developers.
