Dallara takes home individual crown

The Long Beach State women’s tennis team wrapped up its last day at the Fullerton Invitational by claiming the singles title on Sunday.

Junior Anais Dallara defeated teammate Klaudia Malenovska 6-3, 6-0 to earn her first collegiate singles crown.

The 49ers were the only team left after they eliminated every other squad on a busy Saturday.

Dallara beat fellow 49er Julie Luzar 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinal round, while Malenovska battled LBSU sophomore Jaklin Alawi in a three-set victory (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) to advance.

The doubles title will have to wait until Monday to be decided as the 49ers opted to move the final match back home to the Rhodes Tennis Center.

The match between Dallara and her partner Deborah Armstrong and the LBSU tandem of Rachel Manasse and Malenovska is slated to begin at 2:45 p.m.

Dallara and Armstong earned their spot in the doubles final by defeating teammates Sarah Cantlay and Luzar, 8-4, in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Malenovska and Manasse took care of Alawi and Anna Jeczmionka, 9-7.
