Hard Summer Music Festival makes its way to Los Angeles

Headlined by some of the most famous DJs available right now, Hard Summer Music Festival is a must-go-to event for this summer. Fall semester is just around the corner, so who really wants to miss out on an opportunity to party without worrying about deadlines, finals or exams one last time?
Gary Richards, a producer known in the industry as “Destructo,” founded Hard Music Festival in 2007, and it has grown in size ever since. The line-up includes electronic rock, techno, dance punk, dubstep, house and other genres of music. Skrillex, Bloc Party, Boys Noize, Chromeo, Miike Snow, Bloody Beetroots and A-trak are just a few of the featured acts at this year’s event.
One of the DJ’s that will be spinning at Hard Summer is American house and techno producer Claude Vonstroke. Some of his singles include “Deep Throat,” “Who’s Afraid of Detroit,” “Vocal Chords,” and “Big N’ Round.”
This is the first time that Vonstroke has performed at Hard Summer. He has recently performed at venues such as Hideout Festival in Croatia, Melt Festival near Berlin, Exit Festival in Serbia and Space in Ibiza. He has played at over 100 festivals in his career.
“I really love to feed off of the energy from the crowd but the most fun thing to do is surprise them. They think they are getting one thing, then they get something else even better,” said Vonstroke.
He has also performed at Electric Daisy Carnival in Los Angeles, but he usually performs in Europe.
“As for the crowds, Vegas is just a bit more commercial than Los Angeles or San Francisco,” said Vonstroke.
Many believe that Hard Summer has taken over as the main music festival event for the summer after the hugely popular Electric Daisy Carnival moved to Las Vegas in 2011.
“I agree [with that] – Gary [Destructo] has managed to become the king of LA now with this massive rave and good for him,” said Vonstroke.
Vonstroke also is aware of the fact that many college students attend this event, and he advises that they make sure to stay safe and remain hydrated.
“I would also say go see as many acts as you can and keep an open mind about all the music,” said Vonstroke.
Vonstroke said as he continues his career, he would love to keep growing his dirtybird brand and have larger parties. He wants to do festivals he hasn’t done before, such as Fusion in Germany or Calvi on the Rocks in France.
“… At some point, they are going to have to invite me to Coachella,” said Vonstroke.
Vonstroke said he is overall excited to perform at Hard Summer with so many other great artists.
“There is a wide range on this line-up, and a chance to hear a lot of really cool sounds. Also make sure you go see Bootsy Collins, it will be amazing,” said Vonstroke.
Hard Summer Music Festival will take place on August 3rd and 4th at LA Historic Park in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets are available online for purchase.
