Women’s Cross Country
Three Long Beach State sports teams saw action as the regular season comes to a close.
Continuing their hot streak, women’s soccer secured their 3rd straight win with a 1-0 victory over Cal State Northridge.
The men and women’s cross country teams finished 21st and 32nd respectively at the NCAA West Regionals Saturday in Colfax, Washington.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams both failed to crack the top-five at the Big West Conference Championship held at the UC Riverside Agricultural and Operations Course Saturday.
The team used the invitational as preparation for the Big West Conference Championship Nov. 2.
The women placed eighth out of 19 programs and were led by seniors Alyssa Allen, Julie Vargas and freshman Maggie Bauer.
The Beach was led by senior Alyssa Allen for women’s and sophomore Michael Simpson for men’s cross country. Allen finished 21st overall and Simpson finished 17th overall.
The Long Beach State cross country team competed in the Big West Conference Championships Saturday. Freshman Tyler Spencer recorded the fastest time (24:50.5) of any Long Beach runner at the Championships since 2013. He was also the fastest freshman in the conference.
