Amir Vafamanesh, sports editor, recommends you check out the classic holiday movie, “Miracle On 34th Street.”

A lawyer takes on a case defending an elderly man who claims to be Santa Claus. Such claims get the old man institutionalized, but the lawyer helps to argue that these assertions are nothing but the truth.

“It made me a believer in Santa Claus,” Vafamanesh said.

Grinch

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” / Universal Studios

Jackeline Luna, assistant news producer, loves “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” so much that she’s made it a tradition to watch it the last few holiday seasons.

The title of this movie says it all. A creature with a tiny heart tries to steal Christmas from the Whos from Whoville. The cynics heart eventually grows as he learns what Christmas is all about.

“I know all the songs like ‘You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch,’ and ‘Where Are You Christmas?'” Luna Said.

Bad Santa

“Bad Santa” / Dimension Films

Brittany Woolsey, diversions editor, loves “Bad Santa” for its dirty and nontraditional holiday humor.

This movie is about a con man who plays the role of a mall Santa Claus (Billy Bob Thornton) in order to rob department stores during the holidays. He eventually runs into some trouble when his plot is discovered by mall security.

“It’s not like your typical Christmas movie,” Woolsey said.

Jingle All The Way

Caitlin O’Connor, managing editor, thinks you should check out “Jingle All the Way.”

In this holiday movie, the former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, and comedian Sinbad, play the roles of rival fathers competing and going to extreme extents to get their sons the high demand action figure Christmas gift that season.

“Arnold and Sinbad are a dynamic duo,” O’Connor said.

Elf

“Elf” / Warner Home Video

Zien Halwani, editor in chief, thinks you should check out the very funny holiday movie, “Elf.”

In this movie, Santa accidentally ends up adopting a baby that crawled into his gift bag while he delivered gifts to an orphanage. Santa takes the baby back to the North Pole, and the boy grows up thinking it’s an elf (Will Ferrell). Eventually, the elf grows up to a full-sized human and discovers his true human identity.

“It’s like a big elf, and he sits in small little areas he can’t fit in,” Halwani said.
