Happy 45th birthday Kurt Cobain!

Cal State Long Beach students and staff may not have the day off in honor of the dead or alive presidents, but here’s another celebrant who helped lead the country in terms of alternative rock: Kurt Cobain.

The Nirvana frontman died in 1994 at 27, the same death age as Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix, among other musicians.

If the grunge singer-songwriter were still with us, he would have been 45 years old and possibly celebrating his 20-years anniversary with Courtney Love.

Cobain left his legacy through his wife’s insanity, his daughter Frances Bean and diamond certified studio album “Nevermind.”

The rebellious Generation X lives on with apathy, but with love for songs such as “Come As You Are.”

“Take your time, hurry up/The choice is yours, don’t be late/Take a rest as a friend/As an old/Memoria.”
