Smoke from a fire near Porter Ranch. Two concurrent fires have burned more than 10,000 acres in the San Fernando Valley, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in Ventura and Los Angeles counties Monday afternoon.

The Press-Telegram reported air quality in Long Beach had worsened from smoke and Santa Ana winds, raising the Port of Long Beach’s Air Quality monitor to “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” A wind advisory is in effect Tuesday until 3 p.m.
