Here are some ways for people to help prevent the spread of this or any strain of influenza:
- Clean hands with soap and water or a hand sanitizer frequently
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Stay home from work or school if you are sick
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, or cough or sneeze into the sleeve of your shirt.
- Eat healthy food, drink plenty of water, exercise, get plenty of rest, do not smoke and avoid alcoholic beverages
- If you feel any flu-like symptoms, contact your physician or local health clinic and get checked out
- Long Beach residents should prepare emergency plans and kits that include sufficient water, food, medications and any other items you need in an emergency.
