Jonathan Huynh, who appeared in court this morning, had his preliminary hearing rescheduled for Sept. 15.
Huynh, 20, pleaded not guilty to killing his girlfriend, Kate Sue Yi, 20, in late April.
Yi, a junior nursing student at Cal State Long Beach, was found dead in her apartment on Seventh Street and Bellflower Boulevard by her roommate the night of April 2. The autopsy report recorded her cause of death as asphyxiation through strangulation.
Huynh was arrested April 4 at 2:15 a.m. His bail is set at $1 million.
His original preliminary hearing was set in early May for June 24.
Huynh’s family was present in the courtroom and did not comment on the case.
His next hearing will take place in Department 3 of the Long Beach Superior Court.
