The preliminary hearing for the suspected murderer of a former Cal State Long Beach nursing student has been deferred to Jan. 19.
Kate Yi, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after her body was discovered by her roommate on April 2. The official cause of death was asphyxiation through strangulation.
Jonathan Huynh, Yi’s boyfriend at the time, was in custody and was not present in court. Huynh is being charged for Yi’s murder, allegedly stemming from an altercation between the two.
This is the fourth time the hearing has been postponed.
