Our website went down over the weekend, leaving us unable to upload our latest news. As soon as we regained control of the Web site again, most of our stories from the past two weeks had disappeared. Our online database was recently a victim of a network attack, leaving us unable to access it or anything else that had to do with our job.
Why was it attacked? I don’t know. College Publisher is a system owned by MTVU. The panic over the Web site has subsided for the most part as we go back to our daily scramble to put stories up. Hopefully something like this doesn’t happen again.
You may have also already noticed a small but obvious change to the main layout of the Web site. We’re going to increase the visibility of Beach News here on the Daily 49er and we’re also bringing back the Ask the 49er page. We will also be working on making the blogs more noticable on the main page, so expect them to show up soon on the slide show box.
