CSULB voted ‘Best in the West’

Cal State Long Beach has been named a “Best in the West” four-year college by the Princeton Review, earning a place in the top 25 percent of four-year colleges.

“We’re pleased to recommend Cal State Long Beach to users of our site as one of the best schools to earn their undergrad degree,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president for publishing in a press release.

The Best in the West territory includes colleges from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

US News and World Report, which will be releasing their Best Colleges 2010 report on Tuesday, has CSULB ranked 26 overall and a Tier 1 college

“When it comes to the West, we’ve been in the top 5 for the last four or five years,” said Rick Gloady, CSULB director of media relations.

“The Princeton Review ranking is significant because it takes into account the opinions of those we serve – the students,” CSULB President F. King Alexander said in a press release on the CSULB website.

Only schools that permit The Princeton Review to independently survey their students are eligible to be considered for its regional “best” lists.
