Sexual assault reported by University Police

University Police reported on Wednesday a sexual assault on their activity log.

The report was received at 10:36 p.m. The activity log listed the Walter Pyramid at Cal State Long Beach as the location. This usually means that University Police contacted the reporting party at that location.

“It’s the first I’ve heard of it,” said Oscar Hernandez, events operations manager at the Pyramid.

“There were no events [at the Pyramid],” said Cameron Ungar, coordinator of events scheduling for the Pyramid.

Ungar confirmed that the Pyramid was available for open gym on Wednesday, in which the facility is open for students to play pick-up basketball during the evening.

Brandon Nevens, a member of the Long Beach State men’s basketball team, said he and teammate Larry Anderson were at the Pyramid participating in the open gym session but were “long gone” by 10:30 p.m. Nevens added that he didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

Athletic Director Vic Cegles said, “It’s always an issue trying to secure that facility.”
