CSULB student faces pre-trial hearing for battery against female

Cal State Long Beach student Avadhut Dipakrao Chaudhari attended his first pre-trial hearing today for two alleged battery charges against two separate females.

According to the official CSULB website, Chaudhari is still an international exchange student, working on his master’s degree.

Until today, private attorney Michael E. Kraut was representing Chaudhari in court, according to the Minute Order received through the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.

Chaudhari is still on bail and both cases are being charged as misdemeanors. According to government website leginfo.ca.gov, California law says, “A battery is any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.”

As reported in the Daily 49er on June 10, Chaudhari reportedly touched a female student’s breast on April 14, while sitting on a campus shuttle bus. The female pressed charges immediately. After the first report was filed, another female student filed a battery case against him for an alleged incident that occurred Dec. 18, 2009.
