CSULB registers 1,226 student voters

Cal State Long Beach registered 1,226 students in the voter registration drive, finishing third among CSU schools.

The Beach finished behind rival Cal State Fullerton, which registered 1,352 students and winner of Cal State schools, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which registered 2,422 students.

The voter registration drive was part of the “Students Vote! Project” launched by the University of California Student Association to mobilize California’s youth. Both the UC and CSU systems joined for the first time this year in the annual contest, registering a total of 40,168 students. The UC system brought in 10,000 more students than the CSU.

UC Santa Barbara topped all schools by registering 7,895 students.

The UC Student Association had various contests to entice schools to participate. CSULB won the Range Breaker contest, along with seven other schools, for gaining 1,000 registered students.
