YoGo! Creations frozen yogurt has stopped operating, and it is unclear whether it will reopen.

The recently established frozen yogurt vendor on the second floor of the University Student Union hosted its grand opening a year ago on Sept. 16, 2009, according to an earlier press release.

As of now, officials could not say if it will remain closed or reopen for business.

“A lot of your questions can’t be answered at this time,” said Christina Esparza, Associated Students Inc. communications coordinator. “The reason being is YoGo! is not officially closed. The owners decided to re-group and re-tool and they may open in the near future… I know they changed a bit because they were a new business figuring out which were the best hours to stay open.”

The store posted the following on its Twitter feed Jan. 30: “To all our fans and friends … we are working through some challenges this semester … There is no place we’d rather be than back in full operation and serving you … we’ll keep informed on our progress.”

Many students, along with faculty are surprised by the sudden close.

“I was usually the only one in there. Maybe one other person,” CSULB student Vanessa Barstad said of the traffic in the shop. “[It was] somewhat surprising for being located in walking distance from more than 35,000 college students’ classes.”

Some students who enjoyed YoGo! Creations still preferred its main competitors Yogurtland and Pinkberry.

“[YoGo! is] good,” senior Victor Segovia said. “Yogurtland’s still better though.”

YoGo! offers servings at 35 cents per ounce. Yogurtland competes for the same customers, but offers a much larger variety of flavors for 30 cents per ounce, while YoGo! Creations offers eight flavors of yogurt.
