Officials respond to student collapse

A female student passed out today during an American Language Institute English class in classroom 105 inside the Engineering 2 building.

“We were having class and she just passed out,” classmate Sadiq Alwakeel said. “She fell on my foot, landed on the ground and I told her to wake up.”

Her classmates helped lift her off the ground and splashed water on her face, said Alwakeel.

According to other classmates, the student may have passed out because of low blood sugar. Officials would only say they were responding to a “medical issue.”

The professor called for help and medical personnel arrived within a couple minutes. The class usually meets from 1 to 2:50 p.m.

The professor declined to comment.

Inside the classroom, several paramedics and other law enforcement and medical officials were assisting the student who was sitting at the front of the classroom in a chair.

She appeared to be fine after the paramedics left the classroom and a police officer said she was okay as he was walking out.

The student was also seen walking out of the classroom with, who her classmates said was, her husband.
