Smoke in Patterson Hall 2 Building

A white-gray smoke cloud in the Paterson Hall 2 Building caused the building’s interior alarms to go off today around noon, according to Rick Gloady, director of media relations at Cal State Long Beach.

The Long Beach Fire Department was on the scene and found that a compressor in the basement of the building had run out of lubricant, which caused it to overheat and create the smoke that set off the alarms.

The building was evacuated and the Long Beach Fire Department ventilated the building. There were no injuries and no damage has been reported. It was re-opened at 1:38 p.m.
