Prop. 30 resolution passes in ASI Senate

The Associated Students, Inc. Senate voted unanimously yesterday to pass a resolution in support of Proposition 30, just a week after nine ASI senators abstained from the same vote.

The College of Liberal Arts student council members sat in on the meeting, holding green signs that read, “Vote yes on Prop. 30.” The members briefly addressed the senate at the start of the meeting to voice their concerns.

Senator Alex Sanchez said he talked with students on campus throughout the past week, asking them about the potential $250 million trigger cut that Prop. 30’s failure entails. He said many of the students were unaware of the proposition or the aspects of it.

Since ASI has taken a stance on Prop. 30, it can now engage in advocacy efforts for the tax initiative’s passage this November.
