Letters to the Editor, Opinions

Letter to the Editor- University Library has ‘bird’s eye view of the campus’ – literally!

We here at the library have a bird’s eye view of the campus and of the birds we see from our windows on the fourth floor. While we are diligently working we have had the pleasure of seeing so many wonderful birds. We’ve enjoyed hummingbirds raising their young, watched ravens steal the hummingbird eggs and watched some absolutely beautiful western bluebirds sitting outside our window eating small berries off the vines.

We’ve been keeping a list of all the birds we’ve seen which includes: mallard ducks, gulls, red tailed hawk, sharp shinned hawk, mourning doves, yellow rumped warblers, two ravens who live around the library, humming birds, black phoebes, crows, parrots, house finches, a bright yellow medium size unidentified bird, and every winter the cedar waxwings show up in force and eat berries from our trees. But the western bluebirds have been the best! They show up every day around 11:30 a.m. They are fantastic!
