Ex-Dirtbag included on 2009 Futures Game roster

Former Long Beach State player Danny Espinosa was one of 25 players picked to represent the United States in the 2009 Futures Game.

Espinosa, who plays for the Potomac Nationals, a Washington Nationals affiliate, is hitting .259 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs for the Class A team.

The Futures game features top players from the minor league ranks. More than 200 former future players have been promoted to Major League rosters, with 39 of them becoming All-Stars.

All 30 MLB teams will be represented by at least one player on either the United States or World teams. Espinosa will represent the Washington Nationals and is the only shortstop on the U.S. roster.

The Futures Game will be televised live on ESPN2 on Sunday, July 12 at 11 a.m.
