Women’s volleyball runs win streak to 5

Three 49ers recorded double-digit kills to power the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team to a four-set victory over Florida A&M on Friday.

No. 23 LBSU (5-0) won the contest, 25-17, 23-25, 25-10, 25-20, at Gregory Gymnasium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

Janisa Johnson led all ‘Niners with 18 kills, followed by Haleigh Hampton’s 14 and Caitlin Ledoux’s 12. Johnson also added nine digs and three blocks, while Hampton hit a team-high .545.

Freshman setter Ashley Vazquez chipped in with 45 assists, and junior libero Lauren Minkel made 15 digs.

The Rattlers (0-5) were paced by Maria Ceccarelli’s 11 kills and eight digs.

The Beach will return to floor tomorrow against No. 2 Texas at 4:30 p.m.
