Wynn inks another recruit for 2011-2012

Long Beach State women’s basketball head coach Jody Wynn has announced the addition of Sigrid Skorpen on Friday for the 2011-12 season.

”We are thrilled to add Sigrid to our Beach basketball family,” Wynn said in a release. “She is not only a quality young lady and terrific student, but we also believe she can make an immediate impact to our program.”

Skorpen, a 5-foot-10 guard from Norway, has played for Asker BC the past four years. Last season, she averaged 11.6 points per game and shot 40 percent from 3-point range.

In 2009-10, Skorpen was also a key player, averaging 9.7 points and taking Asker BC to the championship in both the regular season and the playoffs.

In 2008-09, Skorpen averaged 10.0 points per outing and was selected to the all-star team, while also being tabbed the Best Defensive Player in the Norwegian League.

Skorpen has been a member of the Norwegian national program since 2008. She played with the U-18 squad for two years before joining the senior national team in 2010.

Sigrid is strong, athletic, can defend full court and score,” Wynn said in a release. “We believe Sigrid can have a very bright future here at Long Beach State.”

Skorpen is the latest addition to Long Beach State’s 2011-12 incoming class, which also includes Bianka Balthazar, Devin Hudson, Mary Ochiltree and Lauren Spargo
