Men’s water polo cruises to back-to-back wins

The Long Beach State men’s water polo team added two more wins to their record Saturday with 16-5 and 10-5 wins over Vanguard and Calremont-Mudd-Scripps, respectively. On the season, the team has outscored its opponents 58-22, allowing only four goals in the third period all season.

Aleksandar Petrovich leads the team with 12 goals, with Brian Schiefer netting nine and Milos Vrzic adding eight.

Game One:

Long Beach dominated the contest, taking a 10-4 lead into halftime and finishing the game with a 6-0 fourth quarter.

Schiefer led LBSU in scoring with three goals, while eight other 49ers netted a goal in the game.

Matthew Kubeck lead the 49ers with five saves, and Sinan Karatay added four.

Game Two:

The first half was a close contest, with Long Beach leading 5-4 into the intermission. They outscored Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 5-1, in the second half to seal the victory.

Nathan McConnell, Devin Mefford, Schiefer, Milso Vrzic, and Petrovich scored two goals apiece for LBSU in the contest.

Kubeck had seven saves for the 49ers in the match.
