Ledoux, Hampton named to first-team All-Big West

Senior outside hitter Caitlin Ledoux became the seventh player in conference history Tuesday to be selected to the first-team All-Big West for four straight seasons. She was joined sophomore Haleigh Hampton, who earned first-team All-Big West honors for the second consecutive season. In all, five 49ers were honored by the conference’s coaches.

Ledoux joined Alexis Crimes and Misty May-Treanor as the only 49ers to be named first-team All-Big West four times. Ledoux leads the 49ers with a 3.73 kills per set average, to go with 2.42 digs per set.

Hampton earned her second first-team All-Big West selection as a sophomore. A Big West Player of the Year candidate, Hampton leads the 49ers with 296 kills on the season, and ranks in the top five nationally in blocking, averaging 1.58 blocks per set to lead the Big West for the second straight season. She is also hitting .342 in conference matches.

Sophomore Delainey Aigner-Swesey was named honorable mention All-Big West after receiving All-Freshman honors a year ago. Aigner-Swesey was second on the team in total kills in conference play with 158, and averaged 2.68 kills per set in Big West action.

Long Beach had two players honored on the All-Freshman Team. Setter Erin Juley led the 49ers to a Big West title, playing every set while helping the 49ers lead the Big West in hitting percentage at .253 in conference. Middle Blocker Alma Serna also earned all-freshman honors, finishing second in the conference in blocking and ninth in hitting percentage in league games.

Cal Poly’s Jennifer Keddy was named the Big West Player of the Year, after leading Cal Poly to a tie for sixth place and a 7-9 record in Big West play. Cal State Northridge’s Casey Hinger was named the Freshman of the Year, and Matadors head coach Jeff Stork earned Coach of the Year honors, after Cal State Northridge improved to over .500 as it finished 9-7 in the Big West (five games behind the 49ers).
