It is absolutely worth listening to rhetoric, as it can be revelatory about how a candidate thinks. We cannot read a candidate’s mind, but examining what they have done can help reveal what they truly care about.

LBSU needs to put its money where its mouth is
When Long Beach State students look back on their time at this school, instead of remembering that our volleyball team received a championship title or that we’re one of the only universities with shark tanks on campus, their memories will be filled with broken escalators and the lack of a[Read More…]
In defense of LBSU’s construction problem
My first semester at Long Beach State was Fall 2016. From then until now, I’m not sure if there’s been a single day when some kind of construction wasn’t happening on campus. Construction can be loud, ugly and in some cases incredibly inconvenient; but ultimately, it’s necessary. I’m not saying[Read More…]
Amazon’s get rich scheme
My conscience won’t let me order things off of Amazon anymore and I’ve got a few reasons why. The company treats its employees like garbage, and I believe billionaires should be illegal while the majority of the population is struggling for money. What I don’t get is why more people[Read More…]
No mascot, no problem
We need a new mascot, we don’t need a new mascot. I’ll solve the problem; how about no mascot?

We, as a campus community, are failing to address the fact that the retirement of Pete[Read More…]
If looks could kill, Netflix would make a show about it
Oh my gosh he’s so cute, I’d let him kidnap and murder me! Not. The Netflix show “You” romanticizing psychopaths and making them look like the perfect boyfriend makes me uncomfortable. I feel like it’s a pretty gross and irresponsible message to be sending people. Scrolling through my Twitter feed,[Read More…]
The Long Beach Police Department’s use of the Tiger Text app warrants more action
The Long Beach Police Department got caught using a service that permanently deletes text messages, and its apology was nowhere near sufficient. Al Jazeera published an article Sept. 18, revealing that, since at least 2014, the LBPD used Tiger Text – an application which deletes messages shortly after they are[Read More…]
Did Justin Timberlake go wrong with his Prince tribute at the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl halftime show is often more talked about than the game itself, whether it be a controversy as scandalous as a wardrobe malfunction, or a powerful performance given by an acclaimed artist. Justin Timberlake’s return earned widespread praise aside from one element: his Prince tribute. The moment happened[Read More…]
