Poutre resigns after two seasons at The Beach

Long Beach State announced that men’s golf coach Bill Poutre has decided to resign from his position after two seasons. Golfweek first reported the resignation on Friday.

Poutre was the head coach at the University of Hartford for four years prior to taking his head coaching job at LBSU. According to Golfweek, Poutre plans on moving back to the East Coast.

Under Poutre, LBSU co-hosted the inaugural Battle at the Beach tournament with UCLA. The Beach also recently signed Chien Yao Hung from Taiwan. Hung is ranked by Golfweek as the No.1 international recruit in the 2010 class.

“I am proud of the program’s accomplishments during my two years,” Poutre said in a press release. “I truly believe the team is positioned for continued growth and success.”

A search for Poutre’s replacement is set to begin immediately.
