Cal State Long Beach will host two Halloween events Thursday at the Pointe in the Walter Pyramid.
The Housing Office created a “Left for Dead” haunted house and Halloween festival for CSULB students.
“The haunted house is ‘Left for Dead’ themed this year,” housing residence assistant Tyree Jones said. “Left for Dead” is a popular video game about zombies.
Four students enter the haunted house at a time and receive NERF dart guns. As zombies jump out to scare them, they can use the dart guns to shoot the zombies and make their way out of the haunted house.
“It gives them a chance to be interactive with the zombies,” Jones said. “It’s kind of like they’re in a video game!”
The haunted house will be in the entrance hallway and a small room inside the Pointe. The end of the haunted house leads students into the Halloween festival. For students who do not wish to go through the haunted house, they can gain entrance to the festival through a designated door.
Once inside the festival, there will be activities, including a pumpkin carving, bobbing for apples, scrapbooking, miniature golf and more.
A contest will be held to find the best costume of the night. The winner will receive a $10 gift card to either Cha for Tea or Yogurtland. More gift cards will be given out for other activities throughout the night.
Everyone can participate in trick-or-treat candy grabs. Free food and treats will also be provided.
“We’ve been planning this since the beginning of the semester,” Los Alamitos resident assistant Brionna Rosenbalm said. “And we still have a couple more things that need to be finalized.”
The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. The event is free to all students with a valid ID.
