Frog’s Fitness, located in Cal State Long Beach’s Walter Pyramid, will close its doors Dec. 31, according to Ayla Donlin, general manager of the gym.
On Nov. 23, the Daily 49er reported that the gym was doing great and was looking forward to reinstate their lease.
“At that point it seemed that we were cruising along and we were doing good,” Donlin said. “The information about Frog’s Fitness closing down just came across my desk yesterday.”
Donlin said many of her employees don’t know of the closure yet.
According to Donlin, the company decided to close Frog’s Fitness because of financial reasons within the company.
Donlin said memberships to the gym may have been on the decline due to the opening of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center and a new LA Fitness on Bellflower Boulevard.
“We really appreciate our members and employees,” Donlin said. “It’s a sad day.”
Frog’s Fitness has been serving Cal State Long Beach students and community members since 1995.
