Sexual battery

A woman reported a sexual battery on Feb. 24 at 4:50 p.m. near the Liberal Arts corridor women’s restroom, according to Solorzano. The woman left the restroom and was walking toward the University Bookstore when she felt someone grab and squeeze her buttock. When she turned around, she saw five men walking quickly toward the University Library. However, the woman could not identify a specific suspect.

More bike thefts

Two bike thefts took place last week in Parkside Commons, University Police Capt. Fernando Solorzano said.

A woman reported her white and blue 20-inch frame Denali bike was stolen Feb. 27-28 from the bike racks located at the east side of the Parkside Commons Q Building, Solorzano said. When she returned Feb. 28 at 7:30 a.m., her bike and cable lock were gone. The estimated value of her bike was $180.

A student reported that his or her Mongoose XR-75 yellow and black mountain bike was stolen between Feb. 27 and March 1, Solorzano said. The bike was secured with an unknown lock and taken from the bike racks near the Parkside Commons P Building. The estimated value of the bike was $110.

Petty thefts of wallet, keys, credit cards

Three individuals reported that they had personal items stolen last week, Solorzano said.

A man reported that his brown leather wallet and cell phone were stolen from the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on Feb. 24 between 10:15-10:27 a.m., according to Solorzano. The man was playing basketball and left his wallet and cell phone on a bench near the west side of the basketball court. At 11 a.m., he realized he left his belongings and discovered that they had been taken. He filed a report with police, who reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested and both the wallet and cell phone were returned to the man.

A man’s state-issued keys were stolen while he was in the restroom of the Chart Room on Feb. 28 at 1:20 p.m., Solorzano said. The man had no suspect information, but he remembered hearing someone enter and then leave the restroom quickly when his keys were taken.

A man’s credit and debit cards were reported stolen out of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center men’s locker room on March 1 between 4-5 p.m., Solorzano said. The man left his belongings in an unsecured locker before they were stolen. He was advised to cancel all of his credit and debit cards.

An individual reported that his or her 2002 red Honda Accord was damaged on Feb. 25 between 4 a.m. and 12:20 p.m., Solorzano said. The car had five-foot long stained scratches on the passenger front and back doors.

The first floor locker room of the Fine Arts 4 building was reportedly vandalized with graffiti on March 1 at 1:30 a.m., Solorzano said. University Police responded to the scene and detained all five individuals who were not CSULB students. Three men, ranging in age from 18-24, and one 20-year-old woman were charged with vandalism.

A third party reported graffiti on the north side of the Performing Arts Center and Parking Structure 3 on March 2 at 4:55 a.m., Solorzano said. The words “Zamer loves Nicole” were written in graffiti on Parking Structure 3. A smiley face was also found in graffiti at both locations.
