CSU, CFA to return to bargaining table in early May

The Cal State University and the California Faculty Association will return to the bargaining table in early May, CSU Vice Chancellor of Human Resources Gail Brooks said in a statement sent to student media Tuesday.

CFA spokesman Brian Ferguson said, although “any ongoing negotiation would be viewed as positive,” the union would continue its strike authorization vote.

Talks broke down between the two organizations in November and the state labor board certified an impasse sending the negotiations to a mediator.

Before Tuesday’s announcement, bargaining between the CFA and the CSU was set to enter a fact-finding stage.

“Our desire is to reach a negotiated settlement,” said Erik Fallis, a CSU spokesman.
