Speaking ‘sex’ not mysterious lingo on college campuses

Sex, “hooking up”, and a popular favorite, “getting laid,” are terms that are constantly on our minds; so, let’s talk about them.

We are all sexual beings — our sheer existence proves it. College students are at the prime sexual stage in their young adult years, so the action should be exposed and left completely nude to explore.

A recent poll by Playboy Magazine provides insight to the sex lives, masturbation habits, and sexual escapades of 5,000 students nationwide, students just like us at Cal State Long Beach.

Sexuality is prominent in college. Of the students polled, 20 percent had more than seven sexual partners, while 17 percent were virgins. Walking around campus we observe one another, both consciously and unconsciously, looking for someone to reproduce with.

It is an understanding that the more promiscuous a person is, the “easier” they are perceived. Sex is a natural function that doesn’t deserve to be demeaned when it is the process that brought us onto this Earth. Let’s create a revolution where sexuality can be appreciated rather than shunned.

I guarantee some of the eyes that read these words have felt that fleeting cowardice during the “walk of shame” from dorm to dorm, or out of a room past knowing eyes.

Fantasizing about that hot piece of ass in your 8 a.m. class is the only reason you go. We are all floating on the same frequency; searching for someone who can dig our rhythm — and sexual exploration is an appealing option.

Some college students like to incorporate professors into their sexual rotation. Playboy’s poll states that 41 percent know of someone, maybe themselves, who has been between the sheets with their teacher’s assistant or instructor.

The allure of the “experienced” adult could easily let a student succumb to their rampant hormonal desires. Some of the professors who grace us with their presence are incredibly worthy of the CSLUB “Sexy Professor Award” and, because we are all adults, the connection is completely natural.

It is known that people pleasure themselves as well, and a good tip the dorm folks can grab from this survey is to wear flip flops in the shower — that is if you aren’t wearing them already.

Students who participated in the poll admitted masturbation is part of their sexual life, which is better for people who are not on the path of exploration in intercourse. With that, we wonder if women or men pleasure themselves more.

“I think women do masturbate just as much as men,” said Audrey Cranmer, a junior studio art major. We all want that satisfaction, and who better to meet your expectation than yourself.

“Sexted,” the hot and heavy form of a text message, has found its way into our lingo and college students are contributors to the newly created verb. Arousal via cell phone is a perfect way to put that hop-step into your significant other’s treacherous walk across campus.

We all know what you’re smiling at when you read that text message because we ourselves just got one a minute before. There is a secret sex world of words — where there is no action required — and college campuses are great examples, with young people satisfying their drive wirelessly.

So enjoy your sexual adventures. The rest of us are certainly are.
