Men’s golf wraps up The Prestige in 12th

The Long Beach State men’s golf team finished 12th in the 13-team field at The Prestige at PGA West on Tuesday.

The 49ers combined for a 53-over-par team score during the three-round tournament. LBSU carded a 12-over 300 final round after firing a 20-over 308 and 21-over 309 in the first and second rounds, respectively.

A trio of ‘Niner golfers concluded the tournament in a tie for 57th place, as Philip Chian, Raymond Ho and Kevin Roy all shot 14-over 230 for the three rounds combined.

Steve Gibson finished with a 20-over 236 to place 73rd, while Robbie Berton registered a 24-over 240 to tie for 75th.

The No. 27 TCU Horned Frogs captured the tournament title with a 14-under to comfortably beat out No. 8 Stanford by 16 strokes. TCU’s Daniel Jennevret won the individual title with a 12-under score to take down UCLA’s Pedro Figueiredo by six shots.

LBSU returns to action Oct. 22-23 at the Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic at the Virginia Country Club in the team’s only “home” tournament of the fall season.
